Description
Computer photo in color of President Harry S. Truman (center in blue suit) greeting General Douglas MacArthur (next to Truman) on Wake Island when they met there on Oct. 15, 1950. The other people are unidentified, although the donor stated that Secretary of the Army Frank Pace and General Omar Bradley are in the picture. The picture was taken by Edward E. Swofford who was Station Operations Manager at Wake Island for Pan American World Airways at that time. The photo was copied from a slide that had not been stored adequately and had deteriorated from the humid salt air. There was editing to repair the salt damage. Donor: Susan D. Crane.
