Description
British fighter pilot Lieutenant Humphreys of Devon, England was shot down near the city of Hamhung, Korea was bought aboard the USS Manchester. He was rescued by the USS Manchester's helicopter piloted by Henry Cardoza, and Herbert Hicks. Lieutenant Humphreys was pinned in the wreckage and Hicks had to crawl inside the cockpit to release him. Humphreys suffered a broken leg, tipped fracture to the skull, deep laceration over his right eye and severe shock. He recovered in the USS Manchester sick bay.
